One possible version:
Wuxi underground line 1 will be in use in June, 2014. Some people think it’s faster and easier to take the underground and it is much safer. One underground ticket is not very expensive. If people go out by underground instead of driving their own cars, the road will be less crowded. And there will be less air and noise pollution, too. So, it is good for protecting the environment. Luckily, people will have one more choice to go to other places. I think underground is great. I will choose to go by underground.

When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my mistake; the bus was late.” It is probably not your mistake, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop paying attention to whom to blame and start paying attention to how to improve the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming(克服) problems. For example, if you were late because the bus was late, maybe you need to leave home early. Or, you might call a taxi or call friends for help when in need. For another example, if your workmate causes you problems on the job for short of responsibility(責任心) or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or leave this person with some simple jobs. You should accept tha
t the person is not reliable(可靠的) and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your workmate fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges(挑戰) and chances to develop their own talents. So, stop paying attention to “whose mistake it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.
1.According to the passage, winners .
A. have responsible and able workmates
B. meet with fewer difficulties in their lives
C. blame themselves rather than others
D. deal with problems rather than blame others
2.When your workmate brings about a problem, you should .
A. blame him for his lack of responsibility
B. find a better way to overcome the problem
C. tell him to find the cause of the problem
D. ask a more able workmate for help
3.When problems happen, winners take them as .
A. excuses for their mistakes
B. difficulties to greater power
C. chances for self-development
D. challenges to their workmates
4.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. A Winner’s Secret B. A Winner’s Problem
C. A Winner’s ChanceD. A Winner’s Achievement

Last August, Joe and Mary Mahoney began looking at colleges for their 17-year-old daughter, Maureen. With a checklist of criteria (衡量標準,尺度) in hand, the Dallas family looked around the country visiting half a dozen schools. They looked for a university that offered the teenager’s intended major (主修科目), one located near a large city, and a campus (大學校園) where their daughter would be safe.
“The safety issue (問題) is a big one,” says Joe Mahoney, who quickly discovered he wasn’t alone in his worries. On campus tours other parents voiced similar concerns (擔心), and the same question was always asked: What about crime? But when college officials al ways gave the same answer---“That’s not a problem here.” ---Mahoney began to feel uneasy.
“No crime whatsoever?” comments (評論) Mahoney today. “I just don’t buy it.” Nor should he: In 1999 the U.S . Department of Education had reports of nearly 400,000 serious crimes on or around our campuses. “Parents need to understand that times have changed since they went to college,” says David Nichols, author of Creating a Safe Campus. “Campus crime mirrors the rest of the nation.”
But getting accurate information isn’t easy. Colleges must report crime statistics (統計數字) by law, but some hold back for fear of bad publicity (名聲), leaving the honest ones looking dangerous. “The truth may not always be serious,” warns S. Daniel Carter of Security on Campus, Inc., the nation’s leading campus safety watchdog (監視) group.
To help concerned parents, Carter promised to visit campuses and talk to experts around the country to find out major crime issues and effective solutions.

2.It is often difficult to get correct information on campus crime because some colleges_________.
A. receive too many visitors
B. mirror the rest of the nation

A. mind B. take C. believe D. expect
4.What is the text mainly about?
A. Exact campus crime statistics.
B. Crimes on or around campuses.
