     Ever since it started in 1983, the Spring Festival Gala has been one of the most watched TV shows on
CCTV. Watching it on the Chinese New Year's Eve has developed into the typical way for many Chinese
families to celebrate the festival. However, in recent years ,the show is losing its appeal, especially to
youngsters.
     People in increasing numbers choose not to watch the show. They complain that it lacks originality---
the acts are said to be too similar to each other. Meanwhile, there are more ways available for entertainment.
However, the majority of Chinese still watch it. They think of it as a tradition, which brings together the
family.
     Though there are some arguments on the Gala, I enjoy watching the show with my family. In order to
get more young people interested, the organizing committee should make the program more exciting, more
colorful and more entertaining.
