From my point of view, with praise from others, we will overcome any obstacles on the way to success.
Few months ago, I was depressed because of my failure in a series of tests. Therefore, absorbed in my negative mood, I didn’t pay much attention to study. My teacher found my abnormal behavior and had a talk with me. I had thought he would criticize me, but he didn’t. He just said, “You are such a clever and hardworking boy. I believe you won’t let people around you down.” It was his praise that inspired me with confidence and made me realized that I shouldn’t give up. From then on, I studied harder than before and got good marks at length.
Praise is the best virtue. Only with praise can we have the confidence to defeat problems and move forward.

An elderly carpenter （木匠）was ready to retire. He told his employer his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely （悠閑的） life with his wife. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He built the house carelessly and used inferior (較差的) materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career （職業）. When the carpenter finished his work and the employer came to inspect （視察）the house and handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."
What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.
So it is with us. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.

There are two factors which determine an individual’s intelligence. The first is sort of brain he is born with. Human brains differ considerable, some being more capable than others. But no matter how good a brain he has to begin with, an individual will have a low intelligence unless he has opportunities to learn. So the second factor is what happens to the individual — the sort of the environment in which he is brought up. If an individual is handicapped(受阻礙) environmentally, it is likely that his brain will stop to develop and he will never attain the level of intelligence of which he is capable.
The importance of environment in determining an individual’s intelligence can be proved by the identical twins, Peter and John. When the twins were three months old, their parents died, and they were placed in separate foster(寄養) homes. Peter was reared by parents of low intelligence in an isolated community with poor educational opportunities. John, however, was educated in the home well-to-do parents who had been to college. This environmental difference continued until the twins were in their late teens, when they were given tests to measure their intelligence. John’s IQ was 125, twenty-five points higher than the average and fully forty points higher than his brother.
