Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC亞太經濟合作組織) members met in Beijing from November 5 to 11 to discuss the future of APEC and the overall development of the Asia-Pacific area. APEC, which was set up(成立) in 1989,is a forum(論壇) for 21 member countries to develop free trade and economic cooperation throughout the Asia-Pacific area.
Though Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation came to a successful close, the "APEC Blue" has become popular in Beijing, even in China. A clear blue sky in Beijing is difficult to see during the smog(霧) season, so Beijingers gave it a name: "APEC Blue".
"Oh, how beautiful the autumn sky is and how fresh the air is!" This is how most Beijingers feel during APEC. "I hope the APEC Blue will remain, and I believe, through the efforts we continue to make, it will."
A lot of environmentally friendly ways were taken to reduce(減少) the Beijing smog during the APEC meeting, including limiting the number of cars on the road, stopping some factories in neighboring cities and so on.
Perhaps we can learn something from London, where the Great Smog killed 4,000 people :in four days in 1952. Britain then passed its first air pollution act, which required that all power plants in London should be shut down, factories must build taller chimneys, and the heating system must be improved.
In order to keep "APEC Blue", Beijing plans to build air corridors(通道) to blow away pollution. Not all agree with this way. Song Guojun, a professor(教授) of environmental studies(環境研究)at Renmin University, believes that this way will not solve the problem at its root, and only by controlling the source(源頭) of pollution will Beijing see bluer skies.

A clear blue sky in Beijing is difficult to see during the smog(霧) season, so Beijingers gave it a name: "APEC Blue".
Britain then passed its first air pollution act, which required that all power plants in London should be shut down, factories must build taller chimneys, and the heating system must be improved.
I believe, through the efforts we continue to make, it will. A lot of environmentally friendly ways were taken to reduce(減少) the Beijing smog during the APEC meeting,可知B是對的;根據the Great Smog killed 4,000 people :in four days in 1952. Song Guojun…believes that this way will not solve the problem at its root,可知,宋國軍教授認為修建空氣通道吹散污染這個方法不能從根本上解決污染問題,但是并不是選項中所說的宋教授認為沒有辦法解決問題,故D不符合文意。

Being able to multitask—doing several things at the same time-is considered a welcome skill by most people. But if we consider the situation of the young people aged from eight to eighteen, we should think again.
What we often see nowadays is that young people juggle a larger number of electronic devices as they study. While working, they also surf on the Internet, send out emails, answer the telephone and listen to music on their iPods. In a sense, they are spending a large amount of time in fruitless efforts as they multitask.
Multitasking is even changing the relationship between family members. As young people give so much attention to their own worlds, they seem to have no time to spend with the other people around them. They can no longer greet family members when they enter the house, nor can they eat at the family table.
Multitasking also has an effect on young people’s performance at university and in the workplace. When they were asked about their opinions of the effects of modern gadgets (器具) on their performance of tasks, many young people gave a positive response. However, the response from the worlds of education and business was not quite as positive. Educators feel that multitasking by children has a serious effect on later development of study skills. They believe that many college students now need help to improve their study skills. Similarly, employers (雇主) feel that young people entering the job market need to be taught all over again, as modern gadgets have made it unnecessary for them to learn special skills to do their work.
1. What does the underlined word “juggle” most probably mean?
A. Want to buy.
B. Use at the same time.
C. Take the place of.

3.What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. Young people must learn skills for future jobs.
B. Young people benefit a lot from modern gadgets.
C. Multitasking is an important skill to young people.
D. Multitasking influences young people’s development seriously.
4.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Young people think multitasking is good for their study and work.
B. Employers consider it unnecessary for young people to be taught all over again.
C. Educators feel that young people don’t need to improve their study skills.
D. People from the world of education believe multitasking has a good effect on children’s later study skills.
